Default Motor problem in flight

This is my first year of flying and I am on gal. no. 5. Yea for me.
I have a Tower trainer 40 size plane and a GMS 40 motor. not a real good motor. Anyways. After about two minutes into my flight and when I make a hard right or left turn. The motor slows down allmost like it is not getting enough fuel. Then when I level out the motor speeds back up and runs fine. Does anyone know whats going on?
Thanks Tom

Can we assume that you properly tuned the engine before flying that day? If you did, then it may be flow problems. To insure that it IS tuned properly, go to full throttle and point the nose straight upwards while holding the fuselage. The engine should slightly increase in RPM. If it dies, it's to lean. Turn the mixture a few clicks out and try it again and continue to richen the mixture until it does slightly increase RPM (of course, without shutting down).

If not, well, it sounds like it may be to lean or the clunk is stuck so that when you turn, it does not allow fuel to flow properly.

I can hear the clunk when I shake the plane up and down. I did the deal of putting the plane upright. I could be to lean. It is strange that the plane does fine on hard tuns the first two minutes or so. But I am a first year person and it is all about learning. Lots of times I am the only one at the flying field . It seems that in the club I am with there are 5 people counting my self that fly all they can. And the rest of them set around jabber jawing about every one else. To me when I am at the field I want to fly all I can. Not set around and run my mouth. There loss my gain.
So anyways I will try to adjust the high end needle valve better.
Thanks Tom[8D]

Check the fuel hose on the clunck inside the fuel tank where it goes to the brass tubeing. It may have a very smll hole/split in the fuel tubeing at the top of the tank and when the chunck moves to the left or right the hole opens up and you get air making the engine go lean.

You could have a hole in your pick up line. If it`s been a year and you`ve had a hard landing or two , I would pull the tank and replace all the fuel line and inspect the tank for leaks. Then check to make sure all your engine case screws are tight. By replacing the fuel lines and checking for leaks , if you still have the same problem , you`ll know it`s more than likely at the engine .

I have had a few hard landings. Not enough to break the plane. but I am surprized it did not break. I will pull the tank today and run new fuel line plus check out all the screws, bolts ect. And give it a try.
Thanks for the reply! Tom

A lean engine becomes a little leaner when it heats up and the oil content thins out.[:-]

Most of the time the people at the club that talk all of the time love to help as much as talk. Why don't you ask someone at your field and see if they can help you out, i'm sure they would be more than happy.

... And check the tubing coming from the muffler. Given your plane, and how the fuel tank is situated, you don't need any back pressure from the exhaust until the fuel level is even with the spray bar in the carb (about 1/2 tank). Also make sure your muffler is tight.
