Default Need help with foam Extra 260

I just bought an Extra 260 foamie made by E-Flite, and I was wondering if you think I should stick with what they say to use as for motor, servos, esc, etc? By that I mean should I stick with JR Sub micro servos, JR receiver, eflite esc, and E-flite 300 outrigger, are do you think that there are other parts out there that are just as good are if not better for a better deal? If you'll have any suggestions are know where is a place where I can get a kit that has all the parts that I need, let me know.
By the way I have a JR 7202 radio.

Thanks, Mike

There are other brands that are just as good but you should stick to the same parameters of design and use the same size servos and motor but maybe a different brand if you like?

Are GWS servos pretty good, are not? I seen I can get those for $25 for 4. JR sub-micros cost around $18 at our local hobby shop. But if the GWS aren't good then I will stick with the better name brand. I know some of these things you are just paying for the name probally. What name brand do you suggest sticking with?

Thanks

In my experiences with micro stuff I found

Hitec, JR and Futaba servos to center the best,

The Berg RX's are top Quality and super light (full Range).

I have used Castle, Viselero, and great planes ESC and all worked well.

Thunder power batteries are great but I have a few overseas batteries on the way
and will be testing them soon. 1/2 the price of TP and Flight power.

E-flite, Hacker, Axi all make great outrunners. Very reliable

Servos aside, The motor esc and batteries have to be selected on how they match.
Horizon does a good job reccomending combos, I have experienced and heard from others
that tower has a tendency to underpower their combos.

LOL,

I would caution you against GWS anything. The best servos I have ever found for foam are Futaba 3114's. I have dozens of them, and they are just great servos for foam...and I am a JR guy. I like to fly foam because it's easy, fun and it fits my schedule.

Go to http://www.chargerrc.com and get a CR-1. Get a Hacker 20-26M, four of the 3114's, a Berg RX, a phoenix ESC, and THUNDER POWER batteries. You will be amazed.

Berg recievers are about the best you can buy for foam. Hacker motors are the best for foam, and Thunder Power abtteries are the best lipos period. I have flown MANY batteries in my foamies. Don't skimp on Lipos. The 'off-brand' Lipos are generally larger, heavier and have less capacity. Don't believe the stated capacity on any label. I have tested many of them and Thunder Power is simply the best.

Oh,

I only wish I owned that company. I have a minor foam-dependency problem and Charger is by far the best fix...er um flying foamy you can buy....period.

Get a CR-1 and learn to 3D the snot out of it. Then you will keep one in your vehicle at all times and stop at-will for a quick flight....er um, so I've heard.

Soon you will have several lipos, an inverter, a 12V power supply, two lipo chargers, (one that can charge 5 at a time), glue, activator and extra parts in your front seat....er um, so I've geard.

Then you will look for excuses to go to the store for your wife so you can sneak in a quick 3D session at a nearby park on the way...er um, that's the rumor, anyway.

Charger planes will teach you to 3D like a pro quicker than any other type of foam. But START with the CR-1.

Good Luck!!

Oh agexpert you would love where I live then. I live accross the street from a big park that I can goto anytime I want to fly. That is what is great about the foamies. When I don't feel like going to the club and flying my big plane I just walk across the street and fly the foamie. I think I will really enjoy it.

THanks
