HobbyZone Super cub or Goldberg Eagle 2
i lost my trainer when i was flying it on the weekend i want a new one but im not sure which one to get.
i dont now the handling on these but i know i need more training with takeoff/land/spiral dip[do it for fun but its how i lost it...]
HobbyZone Super cub [RTF]
Pros:
Anti-Crash Technologyâ„¢ (ACT)
A RTF
Steerable tail wheel
X-Port
Cons:
Electric Motor [I prefer Glow]
Duration:10-15 minutes [battery charge is 3hrs,battery is hard to find in my area]
.7 KM range
Foam Wing
[hr]
Carl Goldberg Eagle 2 [ARF]
Pros:
Glow Engine
Balsa/Plywood Construction
Custom radio
Cons:
Wing holds together by rubber bands?
More expensive
no X-Port
Which one should i get?
thanks

RE: HobbyZone Super cub or Goldberg Eagle 2
My training was on a used Eagle 2. After soloing I then flew the plane for almost a year until finally losing it in the sun at the top of an Immlemann. AS I gained experience I landed in a tree without damaging it, crashed it heavily and yet it was substantial enough to make an easy fix, and had it crash when a nylon servo link retainer failed on the elevator (don't use scrw lock pushrod retianers on primary flight surfaces!).
I replaced the Eagle with a SIG LT40 Kadet, which is actually more docile and less responsive than the Eagle, but that makes it a bit easier to land. I think the Eagle allows for more growth than the Kadet, although I like them both. If the rubber bands bother you, covert to a bolt on (I got the Kadet used too, and it had already been converted).
The Eagle is well built, flies well, and allows for some growth in skills. The only negatives I found (on the ARF) was poor gluing of the servo tray (reinforce it!), it is a bit harder to land than some other trainers (but not enough to be a real worry...and develops good skill for faster planes), and I added wide blue stripes on the bottoms of the wing since Goldberg foolishly made the pattern on the top and bottom of the wing identical. These are minor...t is well worth the money.

If you are looking for "Cheap" go with the Super Tiger GS40 at 49.95 USD.
Beyond that the next most reliable at a decent price is the Thunder Tiger Pro 46
Engines like the Tower 46 are hit or miss. It could be the greatest engine you ever owned or be almost unusable?
There are engine like the Thunder Tiger GP 42 that are economical, not the most powerful engine in the world but will last for years
