If you haven't bound the receiver to the transmitter you won't be able to use the reciever at all. It will act exactly as you have described. Binding will fix your problem.

By the manual you have to use use the switch to bind the receiver, but you can't use just any switch harness. It has to be 3-wire switch harness, after market 2-wire switch harnesses will not work. The bind plug creates a short across pin 1 and pin 3 which puts the receiver into bind mode. You plug the bind plug into the charging jack of the switch harness and then turn the reciever on, and follow the binding procedure in the manual. The switch harness that comes with the radio is a 3-wire harness and should be used to bind the receiver.

The switch harness and the bind plug should have come with the radio. You don't have them??

for one, i have never seen anything about a green light on an ar7000, the only light the ar7000 has on it is orange! number two, go to your local hobby shop and buy a 3" JR brand extension and cut it in half.. take the end that will plug into the receiver (the plug end, that has the 3 female receptacles down inside) and hook the orange wire to the brown wire and remove the red wire from the center by taking a pen and mashing on the center brass part on the plug itself there are three visible brass receptacles that you can see on the top of the plug, mash on the center one where it meets the plastic and slip the red wire out with the brass end on it, then you will only have the two outside brass connectors visible on the top of the plug, hook those two together by stripping the brown and orange wires and tying them together, now plug this into your battery port on the ar7000 rx, plug your battery into any other port on the rx (throttle, rudder, etc.) hold down the bind button on the back of the radio and switch the radio on and you will be bound to that rx no one else can interrupt that rx! BEFORE you plug in the bind switch on the rx turn on your radio, set all trims to neutral on the model memory you want to be on, set the throttle stick in the down position and then turn the radio off, then plug in the bind plug and battery, hold down the bind button on the back of the radio and flip the switch on while holding the bind button down.. the orange light on the rx will stop flashing for a few seconds and then go solid orange indicating that your radio is now bound to your receiver! simple as that! save that bind plug that you homemade as you will need it again if you ever buy another second hand rx!

There is a video on the Horizon web page that fully explains how to bind the receiver to the transmitter.

Perhaps it would be wise to go to www.horizonhobby.com and go to DX7 and download and watch the video. It's not that complex but probably a bit more clear if you watch the video.

Or if you don't know how to do that... go here:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo...Binding_hi.wmv

and watch this video. Don't forget to take notes because you will have to do it again if you buy another receiver or if you decide to make chages that requrie a re-bind.

Without the manual, I can predict that you will be doing an awful lot of posting here asking questions such as how to set end points, expo, mixing, and so on. You should have gotten a manual with the transmitter, regardless of the price you paid. Even saving, naming, and re-calling models from memory will require you to know some part of the process.

Foz.. you really ought to edit your post with some sort of paragraph setup. It is very difficult to follow your reply the way it's written. It is one long.. long sentence without any punctuation. No, I am not a teacher.. but it makes things easier to read when you use periods, commas, and paragraph structure.

Yeah, I was trying to find the manual on line but could not. Sometimes, the vendors or manufacturer allow for .PDF downloads of their manuals, but in this case, I could not find that availability. It may be somewhere, but I couldn't find it in such a short period of time.

You may want to see if you can download a manual from some source.. if indeed it's available, which as far as I can see, it's not... but i've been known to be wrong before..

It just amazes me that people would purchase equipment like this thru Ebay. There are so many problems involved with flying that not being able to trust the radio would ruin it for me. Whar happens to a radio that falls off the table? I would not trust it.

Villa.. you said exactly what I was thinking. Probably one of several reasons I will never go Ebay for anything RC related. In fact, there isn't much I would go Ebay for. I just don't trust the outcome.. been burned a couple of times, so I won't do it again.

Happy Newyear CGR , Only 4 months and 4 builds to go till spring. Whew! lol

Thats the problem with buying off E-bay . You cant call up and say, My radio did`nt come with a manual , would you please send me one. I do buy off E-bay , but never any thing electronic unless it`s new , unused and unopened . Believe it or not , I had really good luck buying engines on there.

This is the switch , I`ve been using with my Spektrum set ups [link=http://h1073414.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=SPM9530] Switch[/link] and JR Sport servo extensions, all are 3 wire. I use a external charge jack on all my planes , and by using all 3 wiring, I can Bind thru the charge jack , with out taking the wings of .

Isn't that the standard Spektrum 3 wire switch? The same as the one that came with the radio system? Looks like it.

Anyway, yeah, if used then you can simply use that to bind the RX.

There was a thread a while back on binding the DX7 RX and it was about the bind plug and how to use it. I will have to take a moment and try to find that. It had all sorts of good info. But, you can use a piece of wire and jumper the end pins together and that is what the bind plug does. The bind plug puts a 'ground' on the signal line which signals a binding operation to the RX. Note that the brown (battery - ) wire gets jumpered to the orange line (signal).

And, after a little more observation on my Seagull Super Star 120, I can now go ahead and finish that in these upcoming 4 months.. and perhaps finish my SSE kit!!! WOW! Something to look forward to!!

CGr.
