You can put in an O.S. .46 AX which will give it good power ( though not unlimited vertical ) and is a reliable easy to start with engine.

If this is your first plane, DO NOT FLY IT!

The Stearman while a great flyer, is not an airplane for beginners.

Finish it, and put it away.

Get yourself a trainer and learn on that.

You don't want to destroy your newly built Stearman.

Whatevery you do, DON'T FLY THAT PLANE untill you learn to fly a trainer. A biplane isn't even recomended for a second plane, and sometimes can be a challenge for evena third plane. Get yourself a good trainer and an instructor, you won't regret it. I'm not trying to discourage you, but trying to stop you from crashing your plane that you have spent good money and time on.

Now to answer your question an OS .46 fx would make a great engine for that plane and if you want a little extra power an OS 55ax would be good but not nessesary.

Good luck!,

Hi I have just started to fly myself and it is not as easy to get to grips with as you may think.
Find a club in your area and get an instructor to give you lessons.
The plane I am lerning on is called ARISING STAR by Seagull Models it comes ARF, fit an engine, servos and radio gear which at a later time when you are flying well move to your next plane.
This plane will all most fly its self[X(], well it is making it more fun learning as it will do as it is told unless I make a misstake.
Good luck but do not be tempted to try and fly your Superstearman as it will take a lot of controlling which unless you are very gifted you will not have at the moment, my instructor has saved me from having to pick up a box full of scrap a number of times.

That is a low wing plane, it would be a lot better than a biplane but doesn't really make a good first plane either. It would make a better second plane. If it's all you can buy then your better off gettting that then crashing your biplane.

PS. I have no idea why it posted my reply twice back there

Biplanes require intermediate piloting skills.

A new flyer will crash it quite quickly.

If you try to fly it you can expect the plane to last under a minute.

Don't do it!

The Stearman does NOT have the characteristics you need for your first plane, or even your second plane.
You should only fly it after you have flow a trainer first, then a low wing "tail dragger" second. Even then the Stearman may be difficult for you.

To start out with you want your first plane to be something you will be able to keep under control.

Even a training airplane is a lot for a beginner to handle...

As ACarter posted go to the following link:

[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4537845/tm.htm]CLICK ON ME![/link]

And look at any of the trainer planes.

You need to start with one of those.

Here is a book you can download which explains everything: [link=http://www.dc-rc.org/bobsmanuals/Bob%20younts%20Principals%20of%20Flight.PDF]CLICK ON ME FOR BOOK[/link]

opjose,
Thanks for posting the book, I had run into it awhile back, and couldn't remember where I found it. It is very good at explaining most everything.
