Can you guys help me. I'm looking at a O.S 46 FX. The O.S web site does'nt have it listed for sale. what can you guys tell me about it.. I'm looking at it or a K&B 61. its going to go into a home made trainer that will be @ 7 to 8 lbs. then be move to a tiger 60. I wondering how much power it has. what it compares to that is on the market now. Any help would be great.. Thanks .

Os has come out with their AX series of engines: the 55 AX, 75 AX and the 120 AX. The 55 AX is the same footprint as the 46 and 50 are/were. You might want to take a look at that engine.
I have the 75 and three 1.20's and love them. They are 100% reliable and have plenty of power. Moreso than most of their counterparts.

The 46 AX replaced the FX. Great engine but as stated by MinnFlyer not enough for the Tiger 60.

Want to save a few bucks? The Thunder Tiger Pro 46 is every bit as good as the OS 46 AX.

ive got a .91FX on a Four star .60 and it is a quality engine! reliable, powerful, what more do you need?
im sure the .46 would be just as good but on a smaller scale, ideal for the trainer but you may want to go a few sizes up to around .60 size for the Tiger
good luck and happy landings!

How about a JBA .46A or JBA .56A nice engines and at a good cost. My .56 I am very happy with it. Tons of power and pretty good on the fuel. Plus it's a good looking motor.

7-8 pound trainer? How much wing area do you have holding that weight up? The weight alone puts you in the .60 size engine class for that trainer. While a .46 may fly it if you have sufficient wing area with your plan to move on to a 4 star 60 you may as well start with a .60-.75 sized engine.

What trainer do you have or plan to get? That's a lot of weight for a 40-46 size plane. With enough power you can fly a concrete slab but you won't like the glide ratio at all.[:@]

I have a Phoenix Tiger 60 and run a Thunder Tiger 91 FS on it with a 14 x 7 prop, point it into the wind, hit the throttle and away it goes, just takes off all by itself. Nice plane, agree with the others you will need a 61 2 stroke to get that weight off the ground and you could then convert / transfer it to a Tiger 60.
