I just searched the Tower site but couldn't come up with what I am looking for. In the Tower Catalog there is a prop chart. Not sure if it's in the monthly flyer. I'll keep trying. A 10x6 to 11x6 should be in the ballpark_bob

I use an APC 11x4 on my 46 FX. It is good for vertical and speed if the plane isn't too heavy.

My vote for an OS 46FX is an APC 11 x 5. I have three of these motors on different planes and prefer this prop size on all of them. This combo will provide plenty of speed, and also enough "pull" to hover a plane that weighs under 5 1/2 lbs.

In my opinion a 10" prop is too small for a 46FX.

I just noticed that you didn't specify the type of moter- LA or FX, or an older version.

My advice above is for an FX. The LA does not have near the power of the FX and a 10" prop could work better with this motor.

Nitro,
First, welcome. Second, hit your "Caplock" key. No one likes yelling.

Props have two numbers, diameter and pitch. Diameter is the first number on the prop; 10", 11", etc. Pitch is the second number.

It's the pitch that produces speed, the diameter produces thrust (or vertical pull).

General rule of thumb. If you increase diameter by 1", you must decrease pitch by the same amount. In other words, a 9X8 is similar to a 10X7 and an 11X6. Thrust and speed change, but they have about the same impact on the engines ability to spin them. Keep in mind, this is a very general rule of thumb. I wouldn't recommend trying a 7X10 on that 46, or a 13X4.

If you want speed, increase the pitch. A 10 X 6 will produce higher spped, but less thrust than an 11 X 5. You'll have to play around with props to find the one you like and performs best with your engine.

If it's an OS 46LA, I'd say start with a 10X6. If it's an FX, try a 10X7 or 11X6.

Good luck,
Dennis-

Hi guys...

You should go to OS Engine web site and check their recommendations as a starting point. http://www.osengines.com/engines/fx.html
They do not recommend the 11x4 neither the 11x5
I own a 46fx and i have a 11X7 MA Scimitar and it's perfect.
This is what OS recommend : 10.5x6, 11x6-7, 12x6-7 for the 46 FX. Of course you can put a smaller prop but the RPM will be higher.
