Hi there, I took a break from rc about a year ago and was really into racing 1/8 scale rc buggies, but stopped. I just moved and I have a great place to fly a plane from my back yard and I'm interested in a wing. Right now I'm thinking brushless, foam wing just because its quick, can take a beating, and manuverable. I have no clue about which brands are the best or what I should buy. I used to fly a little so I kind of know what I'm doing, but I don't want a "beginner" wing that I'll quickly outgrow. I want something that I'll have fun with for a while.
Any suggestions are appreciated
Thanks!
ps
i still want something that can perform, I'll learn everything eventually

Invariably when someone posts something like this, everyone suggests a trainer and an instructor... even if you have prior RC experience.
And just as often, that advice goes unheeded, resulting in another lost plane. This forum is repleat with these stories.
Consider the often given advice. It really is your best chance at success.

Nor do you want something which you will quickly crash on your first attempt... which is where statistics say you'll end up.

A wise man once said : "Don't give advice, a wise man doesn't need it and a fool wont listen"
With that said iv seen people put this into the ground HARD and just need some tape to get it flying again (packing tape to tape it back together), a new wing is only 20$ so you could transfer teh electronic and everything...http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=PKZ4200

Hey, rchockeystick, welcome back to RC flying!
The folks at Trick R/C offer a good variety of Zagi flying wing kits that are reasonably priced, fairly complete, and easy to build.

Thunder Tiger just updated their Velocity EP flying wing; the Velocity 2 now comes with a brushless motor.

Either of these will be a lot of fun to fly. The Zagis will be a little more expensive but are very, very durable. The Thunder Tiger Velocity is good and durable, but not as indestructable.
If you'd rather just open a box and go flying, the Parkzone F-27 Stryker C is always a good choice:

Good luck and good shopping!

by the way, i have flown two differnt rtf planes in the past, that I bought at sharper image years ago, and I used to be obsessed with the r/c plane simulator w/ controller for my pc. So, I'm not completely new.

I'd gathered as much from your initial post, which is why I simply pointed you toward a few of the better flying wings.
Great Planes makes a nice flying wing called the Slinger, but it's not as fast or as powerful as the others I'd previously mentioned.
Again, good luck and good shopping! Let us know what you decided on and how you're enjoying flying it.
