Man, this tower .46 is ridiculous. Has more power than god, but loves to run hot as hell even three turns out. More castor here I come.

Put a temp guage on it...
The head temp should be around 300 degrees at WOT.
If it's higher it's too lean.
It tends to run hot until it's broken in fully, so do not be afraid of richening it out on the high end, but do pinch & nose up/down test to make sure that you do not overdo it.
I assume that you are breaking it in with an 11x6 prop right?
And yeah it's a stump puller.
A great value for the money.
Remember it will take over a gallon of fuel before it starts to settle in properly.

The problem is it does not want to start when I have the high speed set. I have to close it another turn.

I should be able to get you a Tower .46 manual, or at least make you a copy. Please PM me your mailing address and I'll get it to you.

Oh, that's quite alright. I've got her tuned in perfectly now. No problems vertical, either. Thanks for the offer, though!

It sounds like you have the engine in the right range, but are running a prop that is loading the engine down too much at the moment.
That may be why it is overheating.
Hows the cooling around the head? Is the head exposed?
On a pusher plane I had to use a lower diameter prop initially to get the engine fully broken in... After several flights I was able to revert back to a larger prop and not have the engine get too hot.
Note that normal operating temps ARE hot... but to be safe take readings on the head...
Remember that you do not want the measured temp around the plug to be more than 300-320 degrees.
The temp tends to climb VERY quickly beyond that, and once it does you risk seizing the engine... which can ultimately result in permanent damage.

I have a 10X8 on it now, but I am not running it much. I am getting a few 11x6's this friday before I fly her this weekend.
