Default Easystar vs. T-Hawk vs. Firebird etc.

Ok, I know this subject is like a bad burrito…keeps coming back up. Yes I have searched many other threads here and other forums, online reviews, etc. What I’m looking for is a simple and low maintenance rc plane to fly around the park, but one that will not break within the first couple of flights. I fly rc helis, and my wife wants something she can fly on occasion (the helis are far too intimidating for her). I’m drawn to the EasyStar due to its simplicity and durability, but also looking at the “Hawk” knockoffs for less expensive options. Also catching my eye are the AeroHobby T-Hawk and SkySeeker, as well as HobbyZone Firebird and Aerobird series. I’d appreciate comparisons and opinions from anyone who has direct experience with more than one of these models.

thanks,
m

I have had an easy star. It is a really relaxing park flyer. Very easy to fly. Just be sure to get a 9.6 volt battery 1000-1600 mah. This is probably the toughest of park flyers. The only downside is that it takes a little more room than some others. You will also definitly have to modify the rudder. It is not big enough. The easy star has no aileron but can be modified for them with no problem. There are some really good threads on the mods in the electric forums. You will not go wrong with it.

I haven't seen or flown the Easy Star, I only know it by it's outstanding reputation.

I have seen the T-Hawk fly, and I think it's a terrific flying plane that is well built.

I owned a Hobbyzone Aerobird Challenger which I not-so-affectionately nicknamed the "Aeroturd" The new Aerobird 3 and Aerobird Swift are better designed with wire control rods instead of fishing line and better control horns.

I can't say that Hobbyzone planes aren't worth considering, but I'd be more likely to purchase the Easy Star or T-Hawk based on my previous experiences.

Ok, I've narrowed my choices down to these 3...

Easystar
Super Cub
Wing Dragon 3

The ONLY thing that doesn't sound ideal about the Easystar for me is the need for a larger flying area.
