Default use 2 bladed prop to replace 3?

on my Alpha 40, I was wondering if i could use a 2 bladed prop instead of a 3? I busted one up last week and went to the LHS and they have the 3 blade prop sold out and have tons of the 2 blade.

Just wondering if it made any difference? just as long as I use the right size prop? and what would it be, same blade length or does it need to be bigger, smaller?

I assume just have the prop be appropriate to the Engine?

Thanks

After I soloed my Alpha 40, I started using APC 11x6 props. You won't believe the added speed of the plane. You just need to buy a 2 blade spinner. I like the Dubro spinners with the aluminum backplates. I left my flywheel in place, but others will tell you to take it off.

I have also used 11x7 APC props on the Alpha 40.

Good luck

I have a Hanger 9 arrow. Came with the same motor your Alpha has i believe. One of the first things we did, (Even before switching to an OS .46FX) was to yank the three blade and put a 2 blade 10x6 on it.. I'm told a 10x6 or 11x5 is perfect for this sized motor.

I use an 11x4, 5, 6 prop on one of mine. Start with a lower pitch, you will still be amazed at the speed difference. I too like the spinners with the aluminum backplates, they seem to fit more types of props. I tend to use Master Airscrew more than APC. It seems like I don't have to cut the spinners as much to fit. Good luck!

11X6 is perfect for the evo .455
