LT-40 Build

Thanks for the responses! I'm having a blast doing this build. I printed off RCKen's build post in Word to make it easier to follow (had to edit out the non-build related posts) and it has been great to have that. I told my wife that the best thing about it is that I can build like I had more experience than I really have, thanks to RCKen. I did find that applying heat to epoxy to help brushing it as a fuel proofer worked great! Since I don't have a heat gun yet, I used a hair dryer I got at a garage sale for 50 cents and it works like a charm, just have to be careful about how long I run it to keep it from having a thermal shutdown. I can't thank RCKen and this community enough for being willing to share their experience with a newbie like me and being patient with the "stupid" questions!

I know exactly what you mean. I have always liked building things. For those who are old enough (like me) I used to LOVE getting things from Heath-Kit to build (electronics stuff), again the joy of building and seeing the results appear before your eyes. Then that industry kind of dried up as ICs came into the market and there wasn't anything to really build anymore (kind of like RTF or ARF is for us now).
I really hope that the popularity of ARF and RTF doesn't lead to the same result. I will be doing another build when this is done, if for no other reason, then to just be building something.

] though back on topici dont think RTF or ARF will take over, maybe for the people just starting the hobby[me though been saving for 5 years... maybe longer] the main concern of getting a kit is beginners are really afraid of screwing up [or just start building the thing on their bed...*cough* and lose a piece] well best of luck, though me and my friends started to build a kit [3 years ago] it was about 5[the plane kit] years old [now 8] and the instructions were lost so we decided just to blindly make it , everything *looked*[and actually was...] good until he made the wing...... he glued the wing into one piece and it wasn't an airfoil though i plane to get building that thing again once i get more money [maybe in 5 years...........]
though preferably i would get a kit, i just love making things putting things together [been working with wood for a long time .. (7 years believe it or not) as for electronics.. my knowledge is really high up there
im so proud of it (maybe to braggy about it..)]well GL and hopefully something does not break......

After practicing for a while with the new Slot Machine, I took the plunge and gave it a go. I was really impressed. It worked out really well. I got all the hinges cut and dry installed. Once I figured out how to use the guide (I finally saw the marks on the top you line up with the hinge markings on the wood) it worked really well also.
