Problems with covering corners

In general I do a pretty good job covering my models. But, I really struggle with corners. I'm talking about 90* corners. I just can't seem to get them to lay flat. What is your technique to do this? How do you fold the corners?

Sorry Bruce-Outside corners. Like you are going to cover a removable hatch and you want some of the covering on the back side.

I usually put on a small strip (@ 1/4 wide) on so it is at a 45 deg angle to both edges. Iron this down as you go around the corner and there isn't really enough to wrinkle. Then cover the major surface and iron it down while stretching over the edges. Eventuall you will need to cut a "dart" out at the corner and iron it down.
May not have stated this well but it works well.

Start at the corner and slice the covering out at a 45 degree angle. Now, fold one side over and iron it down. Fold the second side over and iron it down. Slice all four corners like this and keep working around until all four sides are ironed down on the backside. It's easy.

yeap i just do like Shd920, but I cover the coner first with a little strip, this way no wood is expose.
Or do like 2slow say.
Concave such as flairing for the wing is a challenge especailly with super mono coat.
I end up just cutting little strips and try to make it look like rivet lines

We've had a few days if very fine weather. Unfortunately, I had to work. I am taking my regular day off tomorrow. I normally work four 10 hour days and take one day off, usually Wednesdays. But, this weekend, I am headed up to Massachusetts with my girlfriend to spend some time with my Mom, 91 years old, on Mothers day. Awwwwww... ha.. I read your mind...
Aaanyway, today, partly sunny but windy but tomorrow, they are talking about as much as 2 inches of rain. Blah.. And, as usual, it will probably be chilly up there in tax-land. (as though NJ was not).. ha..
Later gater.
Dick.

Thanks for correcting me Bruce. See what happens when you only finish the 3rd grade. I realized that after I sent it. I used to work for a substance abuse center called the ARC. Guess old habits die hard.

Yes,
Cutting the corners completely out also works good. Probably even better and cleaner than just 45'ing them. I use that method as well. All depends on the mood I'm in, I guess.
On compound and complex curves, where wrinkling seems inevitable, then that's where the difference between monocote and ultracote really shines through. I will personally not use monocote, unless it's one of the colors I have already in my possesion. Then I only use it to save the money. When I buy any covering, it's always ultracote.

Yeah.. yeah.. yeah.. I'm slow. I just caught it, Irish & Bruce. Unicorns.. Ark... Living between two big lakes like you do, Irish, I would say break out the water wings too!!! [sm=drowning.gif]
Seeing that I am 5'8", even though I was in the Coast Guard, I wear my water wings constantly. The doc wants me to lose a few pounds, though.. [:@]
