Upon the suggestion of a few people here, I put a 12.25 x 3.75 apc prop on my .46 trainer. It now hovers
! It is too big for the standard 2.75in. spinner, so I need one that would fit it. I can just take the prop with me to my lhs, but I thought I would ask first too.
BTW, you gotta try one of these props if you haven't. The plane will climb fully vertical as soon as I leave the runway! Only problem is that the throttle cut is not as effective since that massive prop wants to keep rotating, oh well!

Why not just buy an alum. or brass spinner nut, then you don't have to mess with the plastic spinner or screws. Easy on, easy off. Flip your starter rubber over and use the small hole with your starter.

I started using spinners made by or called Magnum, not only cheap but they come with an addapter that even fits some engines. Turned out to be an outstanding spinner too. You still have to cut the slot for your prop size but that's with most spinners. You can always go with A Dave Brown Vortec and have it cut for you.

Ya got it to hover eh? Sweeeeet!
Cutting a plastic spinner is pretty common. You can balance the spinner after you get done, but I've never had a problem. I guess because the spinner rotates on such a small diameter compared to the prop.

I cut the spinner out, but took out more on one side than the other[:@]. It fits now, but I know the balance is off. It doesn't feel like it vibrates any more than it already did so I'm not gonna worry about it.
