So I ordered a Parkzone T-28 Trojan last week to fill my need for a park flyer for after work flying during the week. I received it last night and promptly put my battery on the charger and assembled the plane. I decided for the first flight I should go out to the club field instead of the park, just to be safe, and my friend (who is a better flyer than me, he's been doing this for years) came with me with his electric plane. It sure felt wierd to just grab a plane and a transmitter and head out the field, I felt like I was missing something.
Well, we went out to the field, and it was a success, sort of. Took off and it was a lot different than the trainer and out of trim a ways. I think the CG was off as well because the elevator was really sensitive. I decided to hand it off to my buddy that is a lot better flyer than I am. He trimmed it out and flew it for a little bit and then landed and then it was my turn. So I took off and started to get the hang of the electric and a low wing plane. Keep in mind this was my first low wing, first electric, and I have not flown in over a month due to life catching up with me. I figured that was a recipe for disaster.
The only thing that went wrong was one of the wheel holder brackets popped off on a less than perfect landing, so we just kept taking it off with only one wheel and flying it around and practicing emergency landings until the battery died, lol. It was a great trip with my first electric and I really had fun. I can tell that I am really going to like this plane.
I was playing with it last night and I noticed that I had installed the battery in the wrong place. I put it back farther than the manual shows it, so that was the cause of the CG issues. But now that I have that all figured out, I can't wait to go out again tonight to fly it.

Congrats! Sounds like a success. The T-28's look really cool. How'd it do in the wind? Im iffy on foamies because this texas wind i have to deal with is vicious.

I fly in an industrial area out towards Kelly Point Park in North Portland. The club associated with the field is the Oregon Scale Squadron. I grew up in St. Paul, so just across the river from where you are and am now in Portland for school and work. Who knows where I will end up after that.
I think I saw you mention you fly behind the Evergreen Museum. I would like to make it out there someday. Maybe one weekend I will go home and visit my parents and take off and go flying, lol. Maybe when I get my 4* 40 done.

The T-28 flies much better then I thought it would. In a 10 to 15mph wind is a little bouncy, but not real bad. I don't think I would like flying it much past that though. In calm air it's great. In a little wind it's not bad at all really, but get up around 20 and it gets to the point of not being fun at all. Our field is tree lined, so we get the rotors off the trees and that takes the fun out of it fast. If you are in a steady wind it may be OK, but bumpy air at 20mph is not fun, it's work.
