Default What first plane or transmiter?

I have a DX7 radio system, and my question is do you turn on the transmiter first or the plane?

Transmiter first than plane.

I'll add when it is time to shut down; plane first, then TX.

On = Transmitter first
Off = Transmitter last

The reason for this is that when the receiver is ON, you want it to find a good signal.

If it doesn't, there's a small but real chance that it could find a stray signal that causes a servo to turn farther than it physically can and do damage to the servo or to the linkages.

Also, if your engine is still running and you turn off your transmitter first , the engine may go to full throttle and take off!
Never turn your transmitter off first right after a flight.

Does the dx7 not have fail safe?

cap,

if your turning off your radio equipment BEFORE the engine is shut down something is really wrong !!!!! even with electric always unhook the battery or switch the motor off first.

It does but I still wouldn't promote it as good practice to get into the habit of !!!!!!!!!!!

And you may have the fail-safe improperly set.

Not really likely on a 2.4GHtz system. The receiver will scan to find it's bound GID. It will ignore anything else.

With a spread spectrum radio like the DX7, the reason you turn the transmitter on first is so that it can select a couple of open frequencies. After that you turn on the receiver, and it syncs up with the transmitter.

With that type of radio, there's no chance of it picking up stray signals if you happen to turn the receiver on first. What will happen is that the receiver goes into its failsafe mode, which for the low-end receivers is neutral surfaces and throttle to idle.
