I was given a chance to fly a Trainer yesterday at the club... I can say the simulator time paid off.. to a point..

I noticed right off the bat that the controls would not recenter near as fast as the simulator, and that there are a few spots where it is hard to see what attitude you are in.

If I was in a slow ascending R/H bank there is one attitude where it is very hard for me to tell if the plane is coming to me or going away.

If the plane is almost overhead I seem to be unable to tell if it is nose high or low.

I also found a few spots on the field where I had to actually put in a lot of down elevator to make the plane stop climbing.. it happened in the same spots every time and the only thing I can think of is there must have been some kind of thermals there or something.

I also discovered that when I get too excited I tend to put in the reverse control of what I want.. so I just took a break when that started to happen.

Had a blast though, can't wait to get my own plane done.

Welcome to the hobby...

I just put the 100th flight on my Tower Trainer 40 this weekend and still have a blast flying it.

Now go to the TH website and kill your credit card.

Welcome to the addiction! Been at it 15 years, and enjoy every minute of it! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't talk about, work on, or fly an R/C plane. Just wait till you solo; hopefully you have a decent job to support your new drug!!!!!

Heh ... every time I turn around I need another little item to finish the Superstar... first it was glues.. then engine, then glow igniter, fuel, filter, the list seems to go on and on...

But no matter what hobby I do it seems that way.. I just finished spending the last 4 years playing online games every chance I had, and upgrading the PC every few months to run the latest... greatest thing... If it's not spending it for one hobby it's another
