What size battery is this?

I purchased a battery for my Easyglider electric.
8 cells, 1100 mAh, 2/3A ( these cells are about 1" high )
My hobbico field charger says to charge N cells at 300mAh Max
is 2/3A the same as N ??
My first charges were at about 150mAh but now I want to fast charge at the fiels and I'm not sure how high I can go without frying them...

"N"s are about the same physical dimention as a 2/3A. Unless the cells are specifically designed for high charge rates (for example sanyo SCR cells) I'd stick to lower charge rates, like the standard 1/10C charge. However, you can probably push it to 1/5C (220mAh in your case) without too much issue. It may reduce the life very slightly, but it won't fry your battery. Just check to see how hot the battery is getting after a C/10 charge. If it is noticably differnet with the 1/5C rate, drop your charge rate back to 1/10C. You can probably charge at much higher rates, but it will greatly reduce the life of the battery.

More research and I see they are close in size but not the same..
So if they arent " N " size what would be a safe / max charge rate for a 2/3A?

Its an Electrifly GPMP0251 8-cell 9.6V 2/3A 1100mAh
charge at 125 mAh for 10 - 12 hours. trickle charge at 35 mAh
I've been charging at 300mAh and the battery gets only very slightly warm at the end of the charge.
The easyglider plans call for a AA size But none of the LHS have this size...
I would like to get a 2cell 2000mAh lipo (also suggested in the plans) but I'm told the 7.4 volts will give me much less power than the 9.6 volts of the 2/3a battery????
I need a 2nd battery to extend my flying time at the field. charge one while I'm flying.
I still have the permex speed 400 brushed motor that comes with the plane.
Hopefully santa will leave a brushed motor upgrade under the tree this Xmass???

There is no way to know what a safe charge rate is for a 2/3A battery. Charge rate has little to do with can size and everything to do with chemistry and construction. Without knowing the exact cells used, there will be no way to know maximum safe charge rate. My guess however is that the cells in the Electrifly pack are not designed for rapid charging mainly because rapid charge cells are more expensive, which would increase their cost, which reduces their market, in turn reduces thier profits, etc.
A lower voltage pack will reduce the power output of the motor. So yes, a 7.4V LiPo (regardless of its capacity) will deliver less power than a 9.6V pack. You could try a 3cell LiPo, which would be 11.1V, and would have more power. But if your system can't handle that voltage and subsequent current, smoke is going to come out of something. I'd stick with what the manufacture recommends until you know better.
I wouldn’t worry about matching the can size, i.e. AA size, as that doesn’t matter as long as the pack fits in the plane. Instead, match the voltage and capacity and you will be fine.

Thanks john, Sounds like the pack I have is right for this setup.
Being narrower than the AA pack it allows airflow down the sides and out the exit cooling holes in the fuse.
For the price of the lipo I can buy 2 more of these 2/3A's.
Slow charge'em all over night and 3 packs will be plenty of flying.
I will have to let it cool between flights but I really opened up the cooling holes in the foam and it seems to be running a little cooler.
