I have flown R/C aircraft before but it's been awhile. Looking for a challenge so I want to purchase/have purchased the UAV from nitroplanes.com. They finally have some in stock. So does anyone out there have any suggestions about waht to use that doesn't come in the box? Motors, servos, radio controller. All of it. I just need some help choosing. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thx

Well, as a little known "factoid", the fullscale UAV Predator crashes about 20% of the time at $1.5M a smash [:@][:@] all those "cool commercials" featuring them are straight PR. They NEVER show the landings......
your tax dollars at work [:-]
Personally, I'd be a little nervous about that inverted stabilizer. I know a couple of people with "pusher" aircraft and they have some problems with the props nicking the ground on an uneven field or a "butt heavy" landing. I'd think that the UAV Predator would suffer from alot of those same problems ( a little "flare" on the landing and SCRAPE! you've nicked your tail stabilizers....)

That is interesting info on the full scale Predator. The Nitro Planes model has a large vertical stabilizer in the ventral position, so the anhedral horizontal stabs are protected. Even so, I would guess that the vertical stab would need to be strong enough to withstand a nose high landing, and that "normal" landing with this model would require little or no flair. Just fly it to the ground at a speed that provides the right sink rate to prevent hitting the ground too hard at a slow enough speed to keep things gentle and friendly.
In any event, this looks like a unique and interesting model to fly (and take off and land).
Halfsoldier, let us know how it goes. It's good to see something different.
