Default Different Futaba FAAST 7 channel receivers

I just purchased from the local hardware store a Futaba 7 channel FAAST receiver as when I checked Tower they were on back order until mid September.

The product number seemed a little different to me for some reason and sure enough when I checked online at Tower the one I got was a R607FS while the one I was looking at to order online was the R617FS.
Tower shows the R607FS as discontinued.

Does anyone know what the difference is between these two? They look identical. Links below.

Thanks.

cap,

i also checked this out with tower and was told the only difference between the 2 was a switch in vendor materials and or parts. other wise they are basicly the same RX. i have 2 of the 607's that seem to work well along with a 617.

i havent flown any of them yet as i am in the process of finish 2 planes for maidens and the 3rd one isnt here yet.

they are basicly the same reciever but the 617 has some functions that are a split second faster than the 607. thats what I have read online and I think that was for heli only, Im not for sure. But for general flying the differences are virtualy un-noticable. Futaba did start with the 606 then went to the 607 then the 617 in a matter of a year. I wonder whats next?? I also needed another 617 and tower said mid sept. I went and found one at a small hobby shop that did online sales, I got it for less also. Mark Twain Hobbys in misouri. they had a few in stock, through e-bay buy it now. great service also

Thanks, Guys. I think I'll just keep it as it seems to be fine.

Update: Actually, I called another LHS and they had the 617 and the first LHS took back the 607 so I did end up switching to the new receiver just in case

Another question if you please. I have a R607FS receiver and would like to use two elevator servos, but ch7 socket is also the batt socket. How do I go about this? Some special connector? Thanks, Steve

Just pick up a standard Y-harness. Plug it in to channel 7, and then the battery in to one side of the Y-harness and your servo in to the side of the harness

steve,

you can just uae a "Y" connector and plug one end into the servo and the other to the battery. and then just program the radio to what you need.

This can be done with any RX that shares the battery port with a servo function. Most modern RX's will also let you plug the battery into ANY port and function fine. You can also connect dual batteries this way.

Thanks guys. At first I tried the Y connector, but the servo went to hard stops and I figured it was shorted. You have to pardon this Poli Sci major, electrons are still a mystery to me. Steve

It might do that if you connected the battery and servo to the Y before connecting to the RX. Not sure on that one. You can actually plug the battery into any unused channel and skip the Y altogether.
