Half throttle too rich, any ideas?
My 55 ax has a problem with being too rich at half throttle, almost to the point of loading up and killing itself if I let it stay too long. If I tune it to be good at half throttle then its too lean for full throttle. The only thing I can think of is that because the engine is on its side, and the carb is at the same level as the tank outlet in level flight, is that it flows too much. I don't know. Its a new 55 ax with about 5 flights and atleast a full tank of break in before that. It spins a 13x7 wood prop.

Not at all familiar with the 55AX, but try leaning out your idle screw. If the top-end needle doesn't solve it it must be in the transition stage and the low-end is overly rich. Try 1/8 of a turn at a time until it holds mid-range. When you go suddenly from low idle to mid do you get a puff of white, oily exhaust? Does it lag and then catch up? Both signs of a rich low-end.
