Charging a DX-7 TX
I have a DX-7 TX that I have had for some time, never used it. I am now going to install it in my Tiger 60. My question is: I have a accu-cycle elite that I charge my Futaba TX's with. Can I use it to charge the DX-7 or does it have a different polarity. Don't want to ruin it before I use it.

RE: Charging a DX-7 TX
Irish,
Yes, the polarity is different! [sm=rolleyes.gif] The center charging post is negative on the Spectrum and JR radios the outside is positive. Whereas the Futaba and other radios are positive on the center charging post and negative on the outside. You can charge your DX7 on the Elite Accu-Charger just be aware of the polarity differences. I have made up a separate harness for the DX7 where the charging pigtail is wired for the correct polarity. Check page 10 of your manual for the DX7.

RE: Charging a DX-7 TX
Actually it depends.
When you buy charge leads you can purchase either Futaba or JR charge leads. If you have a JR transmitter lead then you can charge it, if you have Futaba compatable charge leads (pretty much everything else) then you need to make a pig tail, buy a new charge lead and clearly label it, or depend on your memory to reverse the leads.
If you depend on your memory and get it wrong you smoke the little fuse that you can get a 4 pack for a couple of bucks at Radio Shack, you won't hurt anything else.
