Just get the basics to be able to start building.
Plenty of time to think about the other stuff, and no reason to spend a lot of money right now. When I was in college, money was pretty scarce. If you run out of glue, exacto blades, etc; having the Hobbytown USA in the same town will be a convenience. The Hobbytown near me doesn't stock everything but they do OK on small things.
