Default Saito Engine Price Increase

Not sure if any of you noticed the Saito price jump on Horizonhobby. I have been planning on a Saito 1.00 for my next plane and on Donald Hobbies they were listed at $279.99 but if you added it to your cart it would actually be $249.99. Well I went on there tonight to look at the prices of the Saito 82's and to my surprise the 82 was listed at $299, so I went and checked Horizon and they all went up. [link=http://searchrc.horizonhobby.com/index.jsp?Ntt=single&N=796+5250&sid=11D6575D6032]See for yourself.[/link] Man this hobby gets more expensive everyday. So I know of a military only website that had a Saito 115 for $309 with a 5% disount and I had to get it since its a really good deal now. It came out to $300 shipped, now I need a home for it, any suggestions? I've been wanting a Edge 540 but just can't decide. Oh ya, I also need a home for myself cuz my wife's gonna kill me.

Yep, everything has gone up. Not just at Horizon, Tower has raised prices as well. All OS engines went up at least $20. With the state of the economy I would expect it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Not sure if I can list this or not, but I purchased a saito 82 for 235.00 total with shipping from this guy on ebay [link=http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/minosh13]minosh[/link] and he has a 100% feed back. The engine will be here tomorrow by UPS.

This is not me selling them, only trying to help out others looking for a good deal.

Mods if this violates anything, delete it and slap me on the wrist..

I know that Thunder Tiger 4-strokes don't cure cancer or make you more attractive to the ladies like O.S. Max or Saito 4-strokes, but they are a great engine at a great price. If 4-stroke inflation is holding up your next big RC project, you might do well to consider them.

Thunder Tiger 4-strokes are the same great value as always at http://www.thundertiger4u.com :

$179.99 F-54s
$169.99 F-75s
$194.99 F-91s
$TBD F-130s

They even ship orders of $150 or more for free, so all of the four strokes qualify.

You can shop around at a number of Thunder Tiger dealers or order what you like from your local hobby store. Any lhs that sells Raptor helicopter parts can order a Thunder Tiger 4-stroke for you. Check out some other resellers:

http://www.infinitehobbies.com
http://www.ehobbies.com
http://www.paulsmodelsupply.com
http://www.radicalrc.com

I know my local Hobbytown USA will match thundertiger4u.com's $169.99 price on the F-75s. One of our club members ordered one in and that was simply the price Hobbytown quoted him on it. Another club member just maidened his Nitro Models Extra 330 .90 with a Thunder Tiger F-91s this week, and it looks, sounds, and flies great. I have a TT F-91s in my Ace Staudacher S-300 ARF that has been easy to break in and a terrific running engine.

I'm not suggesting you go out and do something crazy like try a Magnum 4-stroke or anything like that (although I own a .52 RFS and it's terrific also). I'm just saying that if $299.99 for a .56 4-stroke seems high to you, you might consider giving Thunder Tiger 4-strokes a try.

I've got a TT-54FS. Nice engine, very reliable. That TT91 4-stroke is a brick.

I ordered a new Saito 1.25 off of eBay last night. The fellow had it listed at the old price of $340. With the 25% cashback rebate from Microsoft, it'll come to $255. Tough to beat that. I don't have a use for the engine at the moment, but I don't doubt that something will pop up soon enough. It's never a bad idea to buy the stuff you want when it's cheap!

I've got 2 of the TT-54FS and both of them keep breaking the keeper on the exhaust valve. Not sure if it's just my luck or a manufactoring defect.

Check out Hobby Zone dot com. It is a local outlet, and they actually have better prices in the store than online, but I have not seen the O.S. or Saito price increase reflected on their site yet, in the cart or not.
Give them a try,
Curtis

Well it seems I bought the last Saito he had on his site. He only has a few engines, a couple evolution engines, OS 55AX, and that one Saito that I bought. But if you send an email you can request certain things. You can get to the site by going to the affes website. Click here: [link]https://thor.aafes.com/ics/default.asp?loc=vendor/exchangeonlinemall.asp~id=113[/link] It will take you to a login then after you log in you click take me shopping. He doesn't have alot of stuff compared to Towerhobbies or Horizon Hobby, but you can use your Star Card since its a military site. Thats about the only positive thing about it, he only offers 5% off.

With the JPÂ¥ strong against the US$ a lot of items that are exported to the USA from Japan will be going up in Price. The GOOD thing is a lot of things imported in to Japan have DROPPED in PRICE[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

hey n19htmare, haven't heard from u in a while, whats new in your hangar? Im going to put the Saito 115 on the Seagull Edge 540. I figured since both the Aeroworks or Seagull version aren't too good for trying to learn 3D, I can rule out which plane fly's better for 3D. And since they both have awesome reviews, to me it all comes down to looks. And I prefer the Seagull version, also it has individual wing panels which is a plus, since I hate gluing wings together. Also it has 8 inches more wing span and weighs a little more which should all help with cutting through the wind on windy days.

I am now short 279.00 in my wallet. (no tax or shipping, so $80 saved there). The Thunderbolt may fly this year!
I know a lot of people do fine on ebay, I just can't bring myself to do it.

After the price of OS jumped I figured that Saito (and all of the others) would have to go up too.
The majority of my engines are Magnum 91fs and all of the Magnum four strokes are still a good value, but I do like the 'premium' brand engines too.
So with that in mind I went ahead and hedged my bets by buying a Saito 125 from Donald's a month ago.
Now all I need to do is build a plane for it.

what did the price of the 5-cyl radial jump too?????

Wasn't it priced at like 1,450????
It is now at 2,000$

I really wanted this engine but I am w/o a job right now and things will get worse,,,, I am sure the prices will continue to clime....

(All of those CEO's need there 200Million dollar a year income you know!...)

I am sure that there lack luster quarter reports have something to do with this....
ARF prices went up..... But China is in the same shape we are right now as well.....
That is the part I don't get..... wouldn't there yen be going down as well to match our dollar depreciation????

It is all the company owners faults isn't it???/
Perhaps they can't live with out that extra 2-million bonus this year and needed to raise the prices to compensate for the quart. loss??

(bitter as worm wood I say!!!)

How do you get CHINA and the JAPANESE YEN mixed up in your WEAK DOLLAR ??

The $$$ drops the YEN becomes Stronger ...

EG

$1 = 120Yen .... So a Motor that cost say 120,000 Yen cost you in the US $1,000

Now at the moment

$1 = 96.66Yen ... Now that same MOTOR that cost 120,000 Yen now cost you in the US $1,241.46 there abouts

Now ... instead of looking STUPID like you just have by Saying CHINA has the YEN which they DO NOT and showing you know NOTHING outside the US ... Log on to the NET and LEARN where CHINA is and what their CURRENCY is, LEARN where JAPAN is and what their CURRENCY is and then LEARN ABOUT the US$ and the Japanese YEN and the effects of a WEAK $$$ has on IMPORTS from JAPAN ..... try this SITE http://jp.quote.com/home_jp.action?C...C-8V544T705590

God and I though it was only the idiots in ALASKA that were STUPID ... 20 People were shown a map of the world and asked WHERE IS JAPAN ...

8 POINTED to AUSTRALIA
3 POINTED to CHINA
1 POINTED to JAPAN ... This one pasted 6 Grade
and the REST Pointed to places in CENTRAL ASIA and the MIDDLE EAST!

These insane prices is why I went gas by converting weedwacker, leaf blower, and chainsaw engines. Its not only cheap to do and saves a fortune on gas,it also adds a whole new element to the hobby! And RCU has its own forum for it.....

kochj,

China's Currency is the Yuan.

Japan's Currency is the YEN.

In school you would have been taught this!

The REASON the PRICE has increased is because the US $$ is NOT worth the paper it is printed on. The US $$ is worth less than the Japanese Yen, but you know about exchange rates in currency markets.

The reason the US $$ is worth nothing is because US Greed has screwed your economy, see this happens when CEO in the US want $200 Million Golden Handshakes for doing nothing.

So you cannot blame the Price Increase on Japan or even China, you can only blame YOUR Government for making the US $$ WEAK against the Japanese Yen!

Me I am thanking your Government, it makes US goods imported in to Japan cheaper and when I order RC Items from the US they cost me a hell of a lot less.

I hope the US $$ Stays weak as it saves me MONEY!

Have a Nice day!

From an Australian in Japan!

Ok guys, we've had to go in and clean up this thread several times now because several members are too childish to get along with each other. They can't seem to discuss an issue without resorting to insults and personal attacks on each other. This behavior needs to stop now. If these members can't learn how to get along with each other then I'll put them in to a "time out" until they can learn how get along.

Let's keep the discussion civil.
