Default blue angel or raptor

which is a better deal: an f-22 raptor (http://www.nitrorcx.com/4f22rarareco.html) or an f-18 blue angel (http://www.nitroplanes.com/fho4brrecoed.html)?

Yes, we need to know that. If you are new to flying, and are wanting to start with either of those; you will have a very short flight, followed by anger and frustration that you just broke your new airplane.

Not only all of the above, but both planes require proper EDF breaking, familiarity with balancing EDF props, familiarity with electric power systens, etc.

Definitely NOT beginners planes.... more suited towards advanced flyers.

RCKen has a nice list at the top of the forum of planes suitable for beginners.

Ideally you want a 4 channel airplane with full aileron controls so you start of learning how to control an RC airplane ( versus the more toylike 2 & 3 channel alternatives ). Then to avoid crashing the plane, you ideally want to be able to buddy box with an instructor... all of which changes the scope of what you should be looking at...

Your best bet is to find a club within your area. The AMA site has a club finder.

Often club membership will get you free training as well, and often club members who are moving up, will sell of their training rigs for a song to encourage the newbies.

I've seen people show up for training and leave fully equiped for less than $100.00 thanks to instructors and club members.

My personal thoughts are that the least expensive and easiest way to get started the right way is with the Tower Trainer 40 from Tower Hobbies. All quality gear that can be transferred into another plane if you wish.
