Default Request from someone with a 4* .60 and a .75 ST motor

how much clearance can you(or do you) have behind the motor and firewall?

I want to run the slimline pitts muffler on one(planning to cowl it with the fiberglass specialties cowl) and need a clearance estimate. Haven't picked up the plane(still debating whether to kit or not) yet so I need a favor from one of y'all, and I figured the beginners forum might attract a few hits.

The plane is usually on the verge of being tail heavy. The ST S75K is heavier than the others. I mounted the engine out a way on mine to help balance it.

You can mount the engine as far back as you can and have the exhaust stack on the engine clear the firewall.

I have not had much luck with Slimline Pitts mufflers. They seem to be too small and cause overheating. Bisson makes a nice compact Pitts muffler that works well. My 4 Star (was my dad's until he passed away) has a ST 61 on it. I'll measure it in the morning and post the info. I think a nice cowl would dress up the plane nicely.

Mine has an OS 75AX mounted almost as far forward as one can safely go on the standard supplied mount. With the battery mounted just forward of the servo tray the plane took just over an ounce at the nose to balance. I'm not sure how the weight of the two engines compare but that should give you some idea of how much room you may have.

Mine has a Saito 80 on it as well as 8 oz of lead to balance it. It is one great flying plane and I love it. Good Luck, Dave
