Default Hookup

Can somebody tell me how to hook up the servo's on my radio? Does the Airleon's go on the left joy stick or the right? If the right, does the rudder go on the left?
Thanks
Rolie

The Left Stick is Throttle and Rudder, The right Stick is Elevator and Ailerons. On the receiver, Airlerons are Channel #1, Elevator is #2 Throttle is #3 and Rudder is #4. That is the order for Mode 2 which is the set-up that most of use in the US. Some other parts od the world do things differently.

Good luck and keep asking questions.

Actually the channel numbers are different with respect to different brands. What radio do you have? I have an Airtronics radio, and my elevator is ch.1, ailerons are ch.2.

Thanks you guys. Breifly, I started in this hobby when my kids purchased me a Horizon Super Cub for Christmas a couple of years ago. I love it! I've become fairly good with it. My son in law got me a Willhobby P-51 Mustang-46. I'm going to build it this winter. My LHS says it to big of a jump to go from my super cub to this plane. I'm working with the FMS sim to try to learn to fly with Aileron's. Just didn't know how to hook up the joy sticks.

PS Do you have a good recomemdation as to an intermediate plane to go to first?

Your LHS is right. It's not necessarily the ailerons that make the P-51 a lot harder to fly but the fact that it is a P-51. It will not handle very well on the ground in many cases and landing will be an entirely different experience than the Super Cub. You'll have to bring the Mustang in fairly fast, even under power in some cases. I love flying my TF P-51 but even though I've been flyign a few years now, I still get a little aprehensive when it comes time to land. It will also be a lot less forgiving in the air. Yes, it will likely fly very smooth and precise but it goes exactly where you point it, including the ground.

There is a thread at the top of the beginners forum listing good trainers and second planes. In your case, I'd jump to a glow trainer next. Another option that is also pretty cost effective would be a Parkzone T-28. It can make a good second plane, it's tough, and parts are available if you do damage it. Even then, get some experience with a good glow powered sport plane before tackling that Mustang. I'm not trying to be discouraging, I just know the mistakes that I and plenty of others have made.

On the sim it should have mode #1 or #2 and mode #2 is the one most often found, throttle and rudder on the left, aileron and elevator on the right, but it's A choice thing. And like Joe mentioned, not all RXs are the same, what chuck C mentioned is the norm for Futaba and High Tec.
For the real deal do what Chuck W said, A P-51 is A bit different then A Cub of any type. If you have A local club contact them, they may have A trainer plane with A buddy box and an instructor so you can get some lessons then make your choice. No reason to spend money on something you may not want.
