Default Converting Hitec Optic 6 to mode 2

G'Day guys, i need advice on how to convert a Hitec Optic 6 from mode 1 to mode 2. It is brand new and this is all new to me, i'm pretty good with electronics and unless it's a major job i'm happy to attempt it myself. I know the software is easily converted i'm more concerned about the right stick ratchet and self centering poblems.

Thanks in advance guys.

I've never done it, but I believe you just have to rewire the throttle and elevator pots, and move the centering and ratchet mechanism to the proper sides. The Futabas I've worked with seem to be symmetric (and I'm sure Hitec is as well), so swapping the centering and ratchet mechansim should be fairly easily. If the entire gimbal assembly is easily removed as a whole, you could just swap those and the rewire the aileron and rudder pots so they are on the proper sides.

Here is the online manual for this radio. Page 7 gives instructions for converting from Mode 1 to Mode 2

Hope this helps

It actually on page 4 of the manual (its item 7 on the menu) not on page 7. The manual doesnt tell you but you need to move the ratchet from the right stick to the left stick.

In the PDF file I linked to above it is on page 7. While the text doesn't say about the ratchets, the diagram does show where to relocate them to.

This is definitely something the end user can do.

RCKen gave you the link to the info to do the software change.

If you need it, page 11 of the Flash 5X manual describes the mechanical changes for the elevator spring and throttle ratchet.

The drawing is pretty much identical to the one in the Optic manual.

In the written manual it is on page 7, I have 2 Optic 6 transmitter ( I actually wrote a review here on RCU on it); however the site you referred to reads page 7 but it is on page 4 on the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Got you. I usually don't look at the page numbers in the reader. I was referring to those printed in the actual manual!
