Solo'd straight away ?

Not that I ever heard of. The best I heard of was 2 instructed flights. I solo'd the next day and that was iffy.
I strongly suggest finding an instructor. My instructor made it easy for me by re-enforcing the fact that YOU fly the airplane. DON'T let the AIRPLANE fly you.

Built my first R/C airplane (CG Eagle 63) one night in my dorm room at Murray State Univ. with the help of a friend... flew it for the first time the next afternoon. No instructor, my first crash was 2 yrs later when the wing departed my Super Kaos in flight
