How Many People Fly RC
Wasn't quite sure where to post this as there doesn't seem to be one area for everybody including Electric, IC, Heli's and Gliders so have posted it in here and one other topic as well.
Has anybody any idea how many people fly RC in total and if you do have a number whether that's just in the US or if it's an international figure and any idea's then how that may be broken down into different countries etc or where I may be able to find the information.
Any help greately appreciated !!!!

I'm sure you'll get some answers here...
You might have a larger "audience" though if you asked this ? in the Clubhouse forum.
I don't have a clue as to how many...do you mean world wide?
Are you just curious or???

My reason for asking I've had a couple of idea's that I am thinking about starting to produce and was trying to get a guestimate at the size of the possible market.
Thanks for that on the Clubhouse forum will have a look in there as well !!!!

A trance, followed by visions.
Started out with Budweiser, but by the time I got to Australia, it was Fosters, and I'm not 100% certain about the Aussie number. I might have to re-do it.

You can check with the AMA to see how many members they have today, that will give you A ball park figure. I fly A lot at other sites where you need not be A member and was surprised at how many people don't belong though. I see there point but don't agree. They only fly at non AMA fields. I enjoy flying at A lot of different places and most of them are AMA.

RE: How Many People Fly RC
Isn't there an industry association for RC? I've seen it referenced (rarely!) in the past. Good luck on getting them to give you any data without becoming a member, however.
My suggestion would be to think in terms of the number of people that you can reach, rather than the number of people in the hobby. The person that has a plane and flies once a year in a school yard or at the family farm isn't likely reachable. If you can't market to a person, they can't buy your product. Look at magazine circulation numbers, AMA membership, RCU users, and that will give you a starting point. There's an incredible amount of work that goes into identifying your target market and those that are likely to consider purchasing any product you might be thinking of. You really do get what you pay for, be it through your own work or that of others. Taken any numbers given to you here with a skeptical view.
