Default O.S 91 FX on a Showtime 50 (Learning 3D)

Is it a complete overkill to use the 91 FX on the H9 Showtime 50?

Not really. People use Saito 82s in Show Times all the time. The power of the 82 and 91 are very close. The 81 just weighs a little more.

The Saito website states that the 82a weighs 462 grams, but they do not specify if that includes the muffler which I assume is not that heavy in a 4 stroke. The 91FX weighs 688 grams which is more like a Saito 125.

I was absolutely convinced that 3D was not my thing but lately I've been thinking that I could give it a shot. From what I've read, the 3D Trainer by default must be a U-Can-Do. I don't like the looks of that plane. Is the showtime a good idea or will it be out of the question for learning 3D?

Though the "Show Time" and "You Can Do" are designed drastically different, you would like flying either if you are a little bit 3D inclined

However, if you are fast fly-by guy . . . Stay away

I have most certainly been bitten by the "fast fly-by" bug. It gets easier by the minute and now that I can do it upright, inverted, on a knife edge, and so on, its taking the form of boring. Nevertheless I want to broaden my spectrum of abilities and this is the reason I want to give one of these two planes a try.

i used to have a ST 50 a while back, i initially had a 61 fx on it and it flew great, would hover at about half throttle, i then installed a saito 91, it flew greeat, but started losing power("needs to be overhauled"), after that i tried a super tigre 90 man it was fast. I ended up taking it off because i didnt like te look of the stock exhaust, and in the end i would up putting the 61 fx with bisson pitts back in it, and flew the right winf off it.

There's been a shift in the direction of my interests. I've learned that the best 3D trainer would be a MOJO and apparently the .60 size would be suited with my .91 FX.
