I was trying to install hinges in my new plane and I damaged half of them for some reason or other. My question is what can be used as replacement hinges? Paper,cardboard,x-ray paper?

I have used the packing strips, that is used to close boxes.
You could get plenty of it at a local store where they throw the boxes away.

Depending on how you are doing everything, and the size and expected speed of the plane, you can do a tape or monokote hinge. Quick, easy, and pretty darn solid if done right.
