You should be safe with an Enamel?
Water based will work too of course, but might flake off if the surface is not scuffed first.

TEST THE PAINT FIRST on a small piece of foam!!!

Some of the propellant base liquids used will melt EPP foam...

Don't ask how I know!

If it doesn't melt the foam, even when the paint is allowed to build up, sure.

Here is how I would do it.

- Obtain both primer and the paint you want to use.

- Test the primer and paint on a small piece of foam from the plane. Ideally something that you've removed previosly or taken off during construction.

- Lightly sand the foam.

- Apply primer in light coats & let dry between coats.

- After the 3rd coat, sand lightly again with a fine grit sandpaper, to smooth the paint.

- Apply your final paint in two coats.

Dont know how or if its marketed over there..but you want Rustoleum paint ...primer is just gonna weigh more.....and the paint will add weight as well.....Rog

I always see people here overstating things like this.

Have you every actually weighed the difference that paint adds to a model?

On a typical .32 sized plane SEVEN coats of paint ( that is 2 or 3 primer plus 3-4 of paint ) adds LESS than 1/3 of an ounce to the AUW of the model.

This makes the weight of the paint insignificant!

What people forget is that the weight of paint and primers is primarily in the liquids which evaporate off.

Less than 10% of what is sprayed on by weight, remains behind.

Covering actually adds slightly more weight and no-one complains about it.

The above is also true of fuel proofing mixtures as well...

So paint and fuel proof away!
