Default Life of Battery Charge???

Hi,

I have the Futaba Skysport 4 radio. Can anyone tell me what the average "life" of a charge is? It came with the Hobbico Superstar trainer and the plane flys great but I want to make sure I don't
"over fly" and have the radio quit on me.

Thanks for help.

Fezz

It depends on a lot of factors (including how low you want to let it go) But I generally use 45min to 1hr on a 600Mah pack

It can be a LOT shorter, but Crashem's got a good guideline.

Make absolutely sure that you don't hear any servo "buzzing" when the controls are centered or moved though their normal ranges. pay speical attention to the throttle, make sure the buzzing doesn't happen at any point, espeically full throttle and idle/engine kill settings.

That servo buzzing is a stalled servo, and it's eating battery charge like crazy.

Soon as you can afford it, get a Hobbico VoltWatch, or a expanded scale voltmeter, and one day test those batteries after each flight to see exactly how long YOUR batteries last. Average numbers won't help you if you have a bad cell or whatever. If you can't do that, find a friendly experienced flyer at the field, and have them test your battery (it's easy). It's a drag to lose a plane because you didn't have the equipment to test the batteries.

I certainly wouldn't trust MY palnes to "average" battery charge life.

Spend the $20 or $25 and get a voltmeter.

a lot of the time, a buzzing servo also means it is "checking for true center". also, if you use a 6 volt pack, your servos might buzz a bit more. sometimes, (especially on my coreless servos) they will buzz when you move them a bit, but they are not stalled, as all is well and moving
