Tower Hobbies also has the Airtronics RDS8000 radio system, TX and a a pair of RX's. The last time I checked, this package was $229.00 which is a great deal for a quality 2.4GHz radio system.

RCKen did a review on it a short time ago and rated it as top quality and a great value.

I have both the Airtronics as well as a Spektrum DX7. The Spektrum is a bit more, and is a top quality radio system. At last check it was around $349 or so.

My friend has this radio, felt good in my hands and a lot of people have them. I think he only paid like $150 for it. Don't know if he got a rx with it. I'll find out.
Yes he got a rx with it and its the 2.4.

A person I trained this last summer bought a couple of Hitec 4 channels and they are a nice FM radio. He got them for under $100 ea. with servos.

Most do, but there are exceptions. Be sure to read the description to see exactly what comes in the box.

Exactly. And make sure that it has the right number and type of servos. Many radio systems, especially on Tower, can come with different combinations of servos. You want a setup with four standard servos. You may find a good deal, like the Airtronics, which does not include servos. You just have to figure in the cost of four standard servos ($10-12 each) when you compare radios, so that the comparisons are accurate.

Good luck, and don't feel bad if you decide to get a $120 basic four channel radio. Like others have said, it is not a waste of money.

Also keep in mind that many basic setups that include servos often include only three servos, rather than the four you'll need for a glow-powered trainer.
