Hiya's, this is also my first post.
I've built and flown many controll line planes as a kid. My life long love for airplanes and flying resulted in me getting the back of my shirt signed by my instructer about 10 years ago. Shortly after my Uncle who's plane I was flying took sick and passed away. The models gave me a good understading of controll adjustments and how important the CG is. I was well aware of how hard it would be to fly a plane from the ground but i aways wanted to fly rc.
I set the trans that came with my plane per instructions...opps elev goes up when stick is forward? stick left would have rolled plane right?? thrans. shown on sheet is in mode1 mine is mode2 I was happy of that. I switched the servo plugs in the reciver up is up now, put the aileron switch to rev. its a mix set up. Had to re-trimmed plane. servos made noise like they wanted to travel more. Took the arms off the servo's and centered them with the trans and recv. on also changed the aileron to lowest throw settings.
Ok lesson 1 for me.... 90% sure battery won't move 10% bit me
hand launch batt moved plane stalled and powered over. re glued stabs. ( foam is easy to fix at least i wasn't standing near a pile of balsa and silk span)
Next lesson.. went to the field the sun was right where I planed my first turn so I went home.. I got that one right
Next I learned fine points to hand launch...by the time it took to think "wow thats a nice glide" it was already to late to smooth on the power so I powered down from 30% and a little up ele untill I stalled it. nice
Next Lesson.. launched good into wind its the short leg of the field nose up climbing turn holding my breath back to level after a bit hahaha, turn, at far end of the field decide I cant hold my breath any longer so im gonna bring her in.(but its starting to feel "good") Here she comes lands right in front of me hits a clump cracks plastic nose.
didnt tape the nose, went home with my untarnised moment. I got cold feet.
Final lesson.. Freewing F-35 will rock after some long stick time and a good trans. with expos. Put her on the shelf I learned a lot and had fun with it.
I went to the hobby shop to look at the radio's told them i could have flown it if i had a strap LOL. I was looking at the PZ super cub, the guy at the desk looked and directed me to the pz corsair and said "flys great" I would have went with a T-28 and a Dx6i (next plane) but instead i got a micro Citabria I dont ever think i could get bored with that. Cub looks like big fun but im a little shy of no ailerons so i went with the micro with no ailerons for now.
T-28 and the dx6i look like the way to go after a bit or this.

No I wasn't there Minnflyer. A good friend of mine gave me a nitro car for my B-day. He also bought his son one so thats more less what brought me to the hobby shop. I built and have flown lots of control line and a few free flights when I was a kid. Back then RC was way more expensive, it was a grown up thing. They did have button flyers, the ones you wound a rubber band, clicked and the band worked the rudder. It was a pulse system I think.
I am having fun. Im suprized stang didnt suggest a shrink instead of an instuctor on my choice for a first plane. I knew what I was getting into. Funny thing is I can't say I had any less fun going home and analizing what went wrong than I would have if I got something I knew I could fly and flew the batt. or the tank out.
After 2 months of Sundays I got a 30 sec. flight. Im happy. My choice to get a good radio and a trainer type plane is because I learned, had fun and got something out of all those Sundays. My next flight on the F-35 is gonna be when I can really fly it. kinda telling it thanks.
mean while I think I'll set a fan in my hall way, adjust its speed along with my Citabria's speed and see if i can fly it into the head wind standin still.
