Default A week of stupid mistakes

I'm the guy that always gets away with things I would tell a student to never do. This is just one of those weeks when my doing things my way keep rearing up and taking chunks out of my mule. This time it was with a gasser. Never use metal rods for throttle linkage!! Keep batteries and servos at least 12 inches away from the engine or you may get RF!! Ha, I laugh at these old folish rules. I not only used the metal rod for my throttle linkage but I have my throttle servo right on the fire wall. I have always gotten away with this and I pressed my easy button and did it again on my latest giant. I got away with it for two flights but today when I took off my throttle went right to full and decided to stay there. A G-62 with a full 20oz tank will fly a very long time, even at full throttle. I thought something just broke so no big deal, I just flew it until it ran out of gas and dead sticked it in. When I was chacking it out there was nothing wrong?? I fired it back up and all was well until I blipped the throttle then the servo went right to full power. Tomorrow I will be making some changes to both the servo location and throttle linkage and doing what I tell other people to do. On a brighter note, after installing the correct diaphragm and gasket in my very old YS 1.20 engine it is now running just fine. It didn't like the new style of diaphragm used in the new YS 1.10s at all.

You just took the "do as I say and not as I do" to heart.

Now shall we lead by example?

"Gold-n-Rod".

And I'm your northern counterpart... I always say, "I'd rather be lucky than good"

Mike, it has just been one of those weeks and things have just been bitting me in the bum every time I bend over.[] Just the little things like my 1.20 was under proped so I went into my box and had two choices for what I thought would be a better prop selection, both props were reamed for a different engine. I won't mention how to get around that here, someone may read it and start doing it. Another thing I get away with but it's not correct!! Today I'm going to start fixing things the correct way, back to the basics.
