What plane? Have you flown before? If this is your first time, I would not recommend flying the plane period without seeking an instructor. Its not easy to do, and can be VERY dangerous. If you have flown before, and this is just a new plane, good luck, and happy flying. I still wuldnt fly it in the rain. Electronics and water DONT mix.

EDIT: I just realized you are the one who was inquiring about warbirds and jets for a first plane. I hope you take the advise of everyone seriously. This is a very dangerous hobby. Check this out to see just what can happen, even if you have experience. The pictures speak for themselves.

Just because there is rain doesn't mean there is lightning.

I'd advise against it... there's already more things to go wrong than any sane person would want to deal with... a missile controlled by a radio made for profit, in the hands on someone inexperienced, and never before having been flown. Why add to the list of potential problems by flying in the rain?

Yes indeed however if you do happen to hear thunder then it may well be to late.

I think it not out of place at all to warn one who may actually try it, of the great danger involved without ever having given it any thought.
