Default New to planes

I fly battery helis and am a member of this forum. Interested in planes. There are reliable battery heli's that are RTF at price ranges from 200 -450 and up. Any Good planes in the 200-400? What brands?
2nd question: IS there a good site that shows the basics?
Thanks

There are lots of terrific RTF planes in that price range. You could probably start and end your search with the Hangar 9 Alpha .40 DSM2 RTF trainer package:

A great flying airframe covered with Ultracote, a ball bearing Evolution .455 TPS 2-stroke glow engine, and a Spektrum DX5e 2.4Ghz radio system all in one box and 95% pre-assembled all for $299.99.

If you have heli's already do you have a TX and batteries you can use and do you want electric or IC.
Also are you going to be self taught or have someone to help and do you have some Simulator experience for fixed wing ???
Personally i you're at the begimmers stage wit planes I'd go for a foam electric like the Multiplex Easy Star especially of you're going to use your TX but if you've a heap of Heli and Sim time maybe the Multiplex MiniMag.
