Default Happy Mardi Gras

or Fat Tuesday!

I would be willing to bet that there won't be an awful lot of RC'ing along the Gulf Coast, including Mobile AL west to beyond New Orleans today. But if you do, I wonder if anyone will fly purple and yellow aircraft out there?

N'Orleans has become my favorite party town... But I don't know if I could handle being there on Fat Tuesday! [X(]

New Orleans is the armpit of America, and that was true even before Katrina. You ever watch cops at mardi gras? I don't even wanna set foot on that street, who knows what you would be stepping in.[sm=52_52.gif]

Depends on where you go. NO has some areas that are great, like the Garden District and down St. Charles. Mardi Gras on St. Charles and the madness on Canal and the Quarter are two different worlds.

That was my experience. I lived down there, actually, in Mississippi, for 7 years and went to NOLA many times, one Mardi Gras and other times just to visit and shop.

I lived in NO for a number of years and I`ll bet I`ve been to 7-8 MGs. Those shootings, while tragic, are far from the norm at MG, most especially where these occurred. Interestingly, MG is one of the SAFER times of the year when it comes to serious violence. No question that NO is a violent city, but like all cities, unfortunately there are places you have to avoid. Just curious Brett, ever been to NO ?

Not during Mardi Gras, but have been there. Don't plan on returning. I feel about it like I feel about NY City. Nice place to visit, but would hate to live there. And don't make any wrong turns. It's not the worst place to be, DC is.

I grew up in NYC and there are places there that I STILL wouldn't go to!

But my favorite thing about both NYC and NOLA is the FOOD!

Brunch at Brennan`s, dinner at Commander`s Palace, holy cow!! It don`t get no better than that! NO is the only place I`ve lived where nobody thought a thing about having a drink at lunch at a fine restaurant and then going back to work.

Guardian.co.uk? Gee, lets get propaganda about the US from Jakarta while we're at it. Come on.. that's a stretch. Did you ever consider that there are about 1 murder a day in Philadelphia, the "nation's birthplace" ?

I am not defending New Orleans, but if you are going to quote something, please get it from somewhere local. Heck, even something about the US from Anchorage AK is better than getting it from the UK. If you want to quote some news about the UK, well, then by all means, get it from the UK.

Didn't think the source mattered when the information was factual. It was the first site that popped up, but to make you happy... http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2...t_charles.html

Doesn't get any more local than that.
