Has anyone picked up on of these 4YF scratch and dent radios from tower http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTS1000p?&C=J If so what kind of receiver does it come with and why would it have a surface frequence in it? I just emailed tower on info about it but I kinda don't trust what they say sometimes.
Thanks

My Feedback: (4)
The 4YF comes in surface frequencies because some of the sailboat captains and rock crawler drivers prefer the feel of a stick radio too. FWIW, these particular scratch and dent deals are not such deals. I've seen those radios (transmitter and receiver only, to be fair) at several r/c flea markets for $20. Add in 4 servos at regular price and you're still probably ahead......I like my Eclipse, but now that 2.4ghz has flooded the market, $100 for a flightpack w/ 4 servos, a NICAD?! rx pack, and an FM rx doesn't seem so hot anymore. At least they give you 425BB's now; last time I bought a similar flight pack, I had to settle for 325s.

If it's one with S3004 servos it most likely has a R127DF. That's what is listed in the product info sheet. You say, "But the 127 was discontinued long ago." That would be true, and these radios probably sat in the warehouse for a few years.

This is what I buy. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXEFJ4**&P=7
I use the new RX battery for an older radio and the servos for throttles. By the time you add the crystal to the flight pack the money is about the same.

I`d completely forgot, but I have this one: http://www2.gpmd.com/image/t/tacj1501.jpg
I used it alot last year on a cessna electric powered and it was a good transmitter. Didn`t have any problems with it.
