Looking to buy a used radio what I need to know is what Ch. Are ground and what Ch. Are air.

Yes do peruse the frequency assignment chart posted by Metalica at the AMA website.

In the United States:

The 75 Mhz band is for surface only (cars/boats).

The 72 Mhz band is for aircraft only.

The 27Mhz band is for combined use Air and Surface.
