Default WARNING to new guys......Addicted !!!!

Hello,

My name is Curtis and I am an addict...

My Homepage is now RCU, my most used bookmark is tower hobbies. I have a live feed of the local windspeed on my desktop. The wife claims if I am not building something or shopping for the next one to build I am grumpy.

I have an airplane hanging on the wall in my bedroom, one on a tabletop just under it, and a Tiger 2 kit on the bar.

I do not have everything I need for the tiger 2 kit, so I started a SPAD Debonair.

I have a work order at lowes for them to come and put up a 16x20 outbuilding.....just for planes.

My personal account bank statement for last month, had the gas station for work, the LHS, tower hobbies, horizon, and my AMA fee...I forgot to eat

Seriously I attended my first club meeting last night, I was the youngest there by 20 years, I'm 31. I have been in the club a while but had not been to a meeting, had only met 2 of the guys.

I met 10 others last night, some of the best people I have met in a long time. We sat at a pizza hut had a couple beers, and I listened the them talk about better times, harder times, wars, and all of flying they have done.. I had a great time.

This hobby keeps getting better.

I built my Debonair with a straight wing and as a taildragger. Flies fine.

Ya,

I'm hopelessly addicted to. When I'm not flying, I'm usually working on my webpage about RC airplanes! [link=http://www.hooked-on-rc-airplanes.com/]Check out my webpage, you might like![/link]

Hey Tom, I had a friend from college named Eric Kavicky that is from Carroll Stream. You know him? Your name sounds familiar for some reason...

Eric Kavicky doesn't ring a bell. I've lived in Carol Stream since '91. I have flown Control Line, Indoor Free Flight, RC. Also Kite Aerial Photography. Maybe we've responded to another forum together?

Yes curtis just wait its getting worse, i have six airplanes now and i know people who have 30....
i wish somebody would have told me the next line.
the best thing would be is to harness this initial enthusiasm into flying airplanes and not collecting stuff...
dont worry all the good stuff will still be available later and it will get better.

I spend almost every extra dollar I have on this hobby. I won't look at my order history from Tower for the past year (since I started) but it's in the thousands. Thankfully I can't fit anymore planes, so I sort of stopped looking at new planes. I had to force myself NOT to upgrade the engine in my Venus 40 - so as not to spend the money, but also I know I'd end up justifying a new plane for the 46AX I'd be taking out of the Venus.

I'm 31 too

This hobby has gone as far as to get me behind the sticks of a few different Cessnas, and even do a touch-and-go with a 172.

Now Curtis, if you were really addicted you would have bought that 16 X 20 shed as a kit and built it yourself.

Then the money you would have saved could buy another two planes.

Oh, My name is Jim, I am an addict. I have 6 planes ready to fly, 3 in various stages of being built, 4 kits in the box, 1 Scratch build ready to start, 2 more sets of plans, and 2 needing repair.

If you're lucky, you can use [link=http://www.saiawos.com/onlinelist.html]this[/link] one. Select the state you're from and see if there's a supported airport nearby. Works great, and can be displayed on mobile phones too. Real handy.
