There was a large one in Elmsford went out of business last summer there was another in Mahopac went out of business this winter both of these have been around for over 40 years as I remember them as a kid flying .049 U control It’s like they new I was getting into this hobby and closed there doors. There are some in New York City but I will not drive in the City people are to crazy! There is also one across the Hudson river from me but it cost me more in gas than shipping in my big Mercury.

S&W Fuels is in Penn not to far from you live. You could go there and buy it by the case and save yourself a few bucks.

We buy it in bulk from him, either by the case, or by the drum. Several of us get together and buy it that way. I bought four cases from them a couple of years ago and went through it pretty fast, but saved some money by buying it bulk as well as saving on the hazardous material fees for shipping it.
Might be worth you checking this out.

I have very large Mercury it would cost me at least $30.00 in gas plus my time to go there. I only have the one plane (PT-40 MKII) and never flew before who knows how long I will be flying this plane I only need a quart to start out with not going to buy a case for a plane I might crash the first day.

Tower has it in both quarts and gallons. Other than that, most of your local hobby shops carry it.
Other fuels to consider, Morgan has Omega and Cool Power. The Omega is the one with Castor Oil. Byrons Originals is good.
Basically you want fuel with some Castor in the mix because if you have a lean mixture during a run, the synthetic oil will be boiling away and the only thing saving your engine will be the Castor oil.
The next time you visit someone that lives close to a hobby shop, stop in on the way. Also from Tower Hobbies web site, click on the Manufacturers site link. You may be able to order direct from them, but you may have to purchase several cases at once.
Go to your local field and ask around about how they get their fuel. Someone may have an extra gallon to sell, or may want to chip in to make an order.

Tower fuel has castor in it.
That fuel is very good, I used quite a bit of it.
Get yourself a couple of quarts to start out. If you're ordering other stuff you're not paying any extra for shipping. Once you get settled in you can think about more of a major fuel purchase.

Been reading posts in the fuel and glow forums and almost everyone recommend castor oil I need to get it from tower hobbies as I will be placing a $100.00+ order with them soon and have a coupon for free shipping. Does tower hobbies fuel have castor oil in it?

You know, I called Tower and no one really knew the answer. I had assumed it had castor because of the color and because it left some varnish when I spilled in on my engine head.
However, the Wildcat EXTRA quarts are less expensive, and for certain have some castor. It is very good fuel and I would get the Wildcat EXTRA over the Tower fuel.
If I had to guess, I'd say Tower fuel is repackaged O'Donnell fuel. Tower doesn't actually make anything, and they are affiliated with O.S. engines, which is giving away free O'Donnell fuel with purchases of their engines.
I just compared Tower fuel to O'Donnel fuel - quart bottles are same shape, fuel looks the same, for whatever that's worth.
O'Donnell doesn't mention castor or synthetic, either.

As I tried to point out in an earlier post, there is a great value in getting good quality fuels in quantity versus getting it by the quart by mail-order.
And, I pointed out a location in Pennsylvania, S&W fuels, that has both reasonable prices and will ship in bulk, either by the case (four gallons per case) or by the drum.
The pictures are from their web site. I don't see much wrong with that.. not a lot of glitz but it gets the point across, which is the point, isn't it.
One picture is of their fuel description, which spells out the oil content of their fuels. If you want more direct infomation, contact them directly. The other picture is their price list. Contact them for shipping information.

When i had problems with my evolution i called them up for advice and they told me not to use castor oil in these engines. They will only take synthetics otherwise you will get a lot of problems. I wasent aware of this and there was no mention of it in the instruction manual ither

My opinions...
1: S&W is not good quality fuel. I live near them and have bought and flown S&W alot simply becuase its the only fuel my LHS sells. I will say its kinda funner buying S&W becuase its interesting seeing 10 jugs of fuel and their all different shades of pink(this is no lie,I swear). The last batch my LHS got is not so bad,but previous batches looked like it was tapped from a drum that was never stirred....scary. No wonder everyone says the quality control there is not so good. Maybe its gotten better recently,but I'm not taking chances anymore and am mixing my own fuel now. I did get some nitro from them at a swap meet which was cheap.....I'd buy stuff like that from them.
2: I've owned one evolution engine,and after owning one and hearing many stories......I'll never buy another. Especially if thier saying you cant run any castor in them,lol. Guess they need some kind of excuse for them. Some guys have good luck with them,but many do not. They look cool,but have bad reputations...even worse then super tigres,and I like super tigres!

I have a fuel question. I am returning to the hobby and I have never owned a 4stroke engine. What are the inherant difference it fuel for 4strokes? I remember back when I was flying that one or two of the guys at my field had 4stroke engines and the fuel bottles that they had plainly stated 4stroke fuel on the label.

Apparently some of the four stroke fuels had/have a lower oil content. In shopping for a new four stroke, I kept seeing warnings to avoid "four stroke fuels with a low oil content".
Another thing is the type of oil used. Many people don't want fuel with castor oil in their four strokes to avoid varnish/gumming up of small moving parts. However some four stroke engine manufacturers suggest using castor.
I have used a lot of Wildcat fuel. Their four stroke blend is 18% oil which meets most oil requirements, and it is a fully synthetic oil blend. Of course it can be used in two strokes, too. The difference between their regular fuel and the two-and-four-stroke blend is just that - they use a small percentage of castor in the regular fuel, and no castor in the four stroke fuel.
