Hey All,
I have a question on the compatability of units for buddy box use..........
I have a Futaba 6EXI 2.4ghz, can a spectrum be used to hook up with this or any other make for that reason? If not, does it have to be another Futaba only? Last and final question, at worst where can I purchase a box just specifically to use as a buddy box, recommendations would be appreciated too!
Many Thanks!

Usually, the boxes must match (meaning manufacturers). I have used the Airtronics and Futaba setup and both needed compatible cords to connect the two.
The club trainer that I bought a while back came with a basic four channel Futaba system installed... it was an RTF. I already had a Futaba buddy box to mate with it and, of course, it worked just fine.
I don't think you can mix and match, but I could be wrong.

I haven't flown crap since last September except for a short 5 minute flight with my other electric. Every time the weather is nice, I have something to do that takes me away from RC. Not for long, though.. I'll be demanding nice weather when I can fly!!! [>:]

The cable that came with my H9 Alpha trainer (JR Sport) had a Y on one end, with plugs for both JR and Futaba. I never tried it with a Futaba, but I think it would have worked with a Futaba as the buddy box. At least that's what the manual said.
I donated my free AMA buddy box to the club after I soloed, but I have an extra 4ch JR Sport TX that I pulled the crystal out of to use for training my kids.
One thing to be careful of when using a computer radio for training, is that all of the settings will not always work on the buddy box, especially dual rates and expo. You should always try to set up your trainer without using these settings.
Good luck

icarus98, with the 6ex, ans you have the micro plug, you have to use another futaba radio, doesn't have to be a 2.4, only cords available right now is for the micro plug to micro plug or micro plug to round futaba plug, I have the same radio, got a cord from towerhobbies
