I'm gonna use this in my new Ultra Sport. No more charging batteries and it will last for about a year before it needs replacing. It fits right under the canopy, so I can just remove the canopy and replace it.

And the canopy will be painted black, so you won't see it!

Whaddya think?

Should fly inverted just fine, 'till the battery falls out.

I'd run two of those so you have some built in redundency. One in the nose and one in the tail should get it to balance just fine...

Better yet, how about a 12V deep-cycle marine battery with some sort of complicated regualtor system?

Actually, I'm thinking about one of these. 80 Volts, 750,000mAh should fly the plane for a few years before racharging. It does weigh 74,816 ounces though so the plane might need to land a little hot. No inverted flight either or all the electrolyte will run out.

If you mount it nose down the springs could be used instead of foam. This might negate the little weight penalty from the bigger battery.

What will you use for a field charger?

well if you can put that big of a batt in a airplane and get it to balance.....then i can put a 91 four stroke in a 40 sized plane

Chuck, That is a good idea for a 1/2 scale electric conversion. 750 amps should fly it for about an hour or so between charges.
