Default Engine Mount Problem ???

Hi,
I just bought a GP Dazzler.
The engine mount installed is metal.
It is designed with straps to go over the engine lugs.
My concern is the engine does not have a snug fit.
It can slide left-to-right about 1/8".
I'm confident I can mount it in there centered.
Should I be concerned about this?
What problems could I have or try to anticipate?
Thanks for the help.

I've had many planes with this type of mount, and while they are "the best" they are fine for 40 sized planes like you have. Don't worry about getting it perfectly centered as it's not going to make that much of difference. "Eyeballed" centering will be just fine here. Make sure the bolts are tight when you install the engine, and if you don't have self locking nuts make sure you use locktite on the nuts to keep them secured.

I have this kind of mount on a couple of my trainers. What I did was take plywood the thickness of my engine mounting lugs and made a spacer that encapsulates the mounting lugs and is held in place by the mounting strap bolts. All they do is prevent the engine from moving forward or turn from side to side. It's an extra step that is a pain in the but to cutout and fuel proof. A recent Avistar assembly the engine I was using fit exactly between the engine mount bearers, so I didn't even bother with making the spacers. Tighten those engine mount strap bolts securely with some loctite and you should be good.
