One of our members gave me a Tiger 2 that he built. I tired to sell it so me earlier this year but I didnt have the money. Well Iget a call and he said he is moving back to michican or the summer and would like to give the plane to me.(He moves there in the summer and comes downhere inthe winter, I guessthe winters in michican are tooharsh onhim.)He take the engine and servos and I get everything else. How well does this plane fly and what engine. He had a thunder tiger on it. How well does this engine run or can I use something like an O.S 46 or a mag 46XLS. Here is a pic

all those would be fine in terms of power. i would chose the thunder tiger or the O.S. personally. if i had the dough, i'd pop for the O.S., most reliable and easist to use engine on the market in my view.

I've never used a thunder tiger, but I have three .46 size engines two are OS (AX & LA) and a magnum XLS. the AX makes the most power followed by the XLS then the LA. the break in is easier on the OS engines but it's still easy on the magnum the XLS just takes a bit longer. once broken in I find the magnum the easiest to start. I think the OS engines hold a tune better. it comes down to money for me. if I have it I'd go with an OS .46AX otherwise the magnum is my 2nd choice.

You will end up flying the wings off that thing. Nice flyer, very honest, good stall characteristics. I have a SuperTigre 45 on mine, flys great. I would like to try a 70 four stroke on it, Ijust like the way the 4 strokes run. I have had mine for years now.

the tiger2 is the only plane i've built from a kit. me my dad built one when i was younger. i still have it, though it has some hanger rash as it's been mothballed for a little over a decade. i'd like to get it back out and get it air worthy again. it really is a great airplane.

Magnum will fly it just fine. I have one of these engines and picked up another when it was on sale for $50 awhile back. I have 46ax on my Tiger2 and it pulls it just fine. Only problem I had was the tiger for some reason is tail heavy atleast my arf is. Only plane I've got that has lead in it, the rest I moved battery around to get balance. THis is a great little plane

I also have a Tiger II with a Magnum 46 on it. It flys just fine with it. I have had a TT Pro 46 a 55 AX and a Tower Hobbies 46 on it. Ofcourse the 55 made the most power but I really can't tell any difference in the other three. I will say I believe for the money the TT Pro is the best deal out there for the money.

if you have never tried a gms.47 i recommend you buy one.

i have a gms .47 and its a power house. its cheaper than the others (on tower $70), starts easy, and runs very well

break in is a non issue, fuel it up, tune it rich, and go fly. i have yet to have the engine randomly die on me while in the air

it sounds cooler than other 2 strokes. maybe its because it was my first engine and im just used to the sound but my magnum sounds lame compared to the gms. (its prob cause of the muffler)

Hey guys, Michigan is the upper half of North America. Detroit is the suburb of my town. We are surrounded by oceans on three sides. Michigan ocean, superior ocean and Erie ocean. hahahaha

And here I was thinking that Erie was just a big cesspool. My mistake apparently. Can you still walk on top across the top of the crap floating on it or does the oil now make it too slippery?
