Default Bigger prop for break in?

<input type="hidden" id="gwProxy"><!Session data></input><input type="hidden" id="jsProxy" onclick="jsCall();" />Hey guys i messed up my 10x7 Prop for breaking in super tigre 40 ringed. Is it ok to use a 11 x 5 prop instead ? I read somewhere about prop factors. And according to it 10 x7 = (10x10) x 7 which is 700 versus (11x11) x 5 = 605. So these should be close right.

Not sure about prop factors but the increase in prop diameter will be offset a bit by the decrease in pitch. it it were me... I would spend the few bucks for the correct break in prop as one of the things to ensure a happy engine down the road.I will say this.. I have the supertiger 40 you do and it takes some time to break in. I had some flameouts on takeoff after a couple tanks and followingdirections on theengine stand... but once broken in it runs like a swiss watch.

you want to run asmaller prop during btrakin so as not to overheat the engine. you may get away with it on a cool day but why take a chance

The 11x5 will be fine...

Edit:
The 11x5 will actually be better IMO than a 10x7 in that the 10x7 is a bit much for a .40 especially a new one...and the 11x5 will have more flywheel effect, so it should help with the idle quality.

FWIW, a10x6 or 10x5 or 9x6 would be better "break-in" props for a 2 stroke .40

Whatever prop you use, don't try running it in like an ABC or it won't have a very long life. The first few minutes should be as rich as you can possibly get it then very slowly start leaning it out but still always in a 4 stroke for at least 30 minutes at which time it should be just about to start 2 stroking. Ringed ST's take a long time to fully break in but the time (and fuel) spent is worth it. And use a fuel with plenty of castor for the break in.

You don't have to break it in at full throttle. Just make certain it is rich but not too rich . I use half throttle myself and have great luck.
