Default CA Hinges - appropriate for large scale ?

I have another question regarding the largest plane I built yet, a Stinson Reliant.
Are the CA hinges appropriate for a 12 lb model with a 120-160 glow engine or 26 cc gas or should I choose something else?

Thank's for your help.

In a word, NO. You should be using nylon hinges. Good Luck, Dave

I'm going to say yes here. I have a 70" gas airplane using CA hinges and another 1/4 scale bipe in the box that uses CA hinges. They are larger hinges than what you find in smaller airplanes. Instead of 3/4"x1" they are 1"x1". There are also more of them.

The type of CA hinge makes a difference too. I wouldn't trust the cheap, non-name hinges in some ARF's. I'd only trust, Great Planes, Sig or other quality hinge material.

Now, having said all that, would I use CA hinges in a plane that size if I had a choice? Probably not. If I were building the plane from a kit or from scratch I'd use Robart Hinge Points most likely.

Installed correctly CA hinges are fine and would work very well on that plane, it's a big floater, not some high performance stunt plane.
Given a choice would I use them?? No!! Idon't use CA hinges myself but I have used them when assembling an ARF for someone else that didn't want Dubros for one reason or another. Iuse the Dubro flat hinges on ARFs and if it's a kit that I can add some backing in the hinge location I like the hinge pins.
That's a very nice plane!!!

The CA hinges will be fine in your model, but I really dont reccomend using them. See if you can get some pinned hinges, the du bro ones works great.

Good luck
